We have started a fundraising campaign to help us buy a newer D1 minibus. Our target is to raise £20,000 to go towards a newer minibus. Further funds will be needed to allow us to provide D1 category training for 3-4 drivers.
Our current minibus is 18 years old and recently just failed the MOT meaning that it was off the road whilst waiting repairs and that it could not be used to transport the cadets to activities and courses. Even though it has now passed its MOT for this year, due to the age of the minibus, further repairs are going to be needed in the future. Rather than spending money on keeping the minibus running, we would much prefer to be spending this money towards other equipment that could help our young people.
We have over 50 cadets at the squadron and with Dover and East Kent being officially recognised as deprived areas, many of our cadets fall into this area. Therefore without the use of our minibus, a lot of these young people would not be able to attend the many events that happen across Kent and further afield. The training and experience that the RAF Air Cadets provides (at weekends, school holidays and during term time) helps to develop these young peoples potential to become happy, self-confident and good citizens of tomorrow.
We need your help to support us in raising money to reach our £20,000 target. So if you are able, please do make a donation, no matter how big or small, every bit really does help. Thank you.

As of 22 January 2025, thanks to the efforts of everyone who has donated and grants that have been received, we have raised £9,906. This means we are almost halfway to our £20,000 target. We would like to thank all those that have supported our fundraising campaign so far. If you would like to donate or know of a grant we could apply for, please get in touch.
