About 354 (Dover) Squadron

Who are 354 (Dover) Squadron?

354 (Dover) Squadron are part of the Air Training Corps (ATC) with the squadron being established back in 1941. Since that time, we have become an Honorary Sister Squadron with Picatinny Squadron Civil Air Patrol in America, moved to a larger building, gone through the Covid-19 pandemic and grown to be one of the largest squadrons in Kent Wing.

Why should I join 354 (Dover) Squadron?

354 (Dover) Squadron formed to be able to help young people in the Dover area to reach their full potential and to give them all the exciting opportunities that the Air Cadets have to offer. So if you want to get involved in flying & gliding, adventure training, the Duke of Edinburgh award, going on station visits and attending camps, target shooting, playing sports and music, plus many more activities, then that’s why you should join 354 (Dover) Squadron.

Am I allowed to join?

We are a modern and inclusive organisation that has over 50,000 cadets and adult volunteers. All you need to join as a cadet is to be between 13, or at age 12 when beginning school year 8 and 17 years old or to join as an adult volunteer, you need to be aged over 20.

When do 354 (Dover) Squadron meet up?

We meet up every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 19:00 to 21:30, this includes school holidays. On occasions, there are extra activities that take place at other times during the week whether in the evening or at weekends and there are camps that are available to cadets.

What costs are involved?

There is a £21 fee required to purchase a squadron polo shirt which is used for certain events when uniform isn’t required. All blue uniform, with the exception of black socks/tights and parade shoes, are provided free of charge. Green/MTP uniform needs to be purchased separately, however there is no immediate requirement for this uniform and it can be brought at a later date if required. There is a monthly subscription fee of £13.50 which needs to be paid on the 1st of each month and some events/camps will require payments. However, please don’t be put off by the costs as there are things the squadron can do to support with this so that all cadets have the same opportunities available to them.
